Obituary

Obituary for Doris Kay Kramer

Doris Kramer was a 55 year resident of Eastchester NY. Doris took tremendous pride in her involvement as President of the Eastchester Women’s Club for many years where she made life long friendships. She was a dear friend and neighbor to so many people. After owning 3 homes and one Townhome over the years, when widowed, she became a happy resident of Leewood Gardens.

Doris was active with the town Beautification Dept and at one time, a member of Eastchester’s ‘Town Hall Community Theater’. Doris loved to dance, especially tap dance … of extra special pride was that of tap dancing with her dance group ‘THE SHOW STOPPERS’ of the Eastchester Women’s Club. Doris, a dancer during her young life, and her team of dancing grandmas performed for various fundraising events over the years. Money raised has continued to provide scholarships to Eastchester High School graduates.

Doris was very proud of her active duty with the Women’s Auxiliary Services of the Armed Forces during WWII where she worked in the Information and Education Office at Charleston Army Air Base in South Carolina. The entire family is grateful to the Veterans Administration which has provided many services to Doris in recent years. She was a very patriotic American.

Doris was the beloved wife of Mickey Kramer who predeceased her in 1994. She leaves her 4 devoted children; Joey Kramer, Annabelle London, Amy Olin and Susan Sammarco. She was loved by 7 grandchildren; Eric and Katie London, Ashley and Melanie Olin, Jordan and Adrienne Sammarco and Jesse Kramer. Grandma Doris was not only a very special grandma to her grandchildren but a very proud great grandma to Chloe and Joshua London. Doris loved her 3 devoted son-in-law’s, Michael Sammarco, Scott London and Bill Olin as well as her lovely daughter-in-law Linda Kramer, all who had a wonderful affection for Doris.

Quite the animal lover, she owned and loved dogs for her entire life and supported many animal rescue organizations. Doris was an advocate for the humane treatment of animals. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to any of these organizations: the Humane Society of Westchester County, The New Rochelle Animal Shelter, PawsCrossed Animal Rescue in Elmsford or the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor, in Doris’ name.

To all who knew her, we say ‘to know Doris Kramer was to love her’. She was sassy and feisty, had a great way with words, was big hearted and exuded tremendous kindness. Our family feels so blessed and will continue to celebrate her life. Doris was 96 years old.

There will be a private family burial.

I remember meeting Doris and Mickey over 45 years ago after meeting their daughter Annabelle, who worked with friends of mine at Lord & Taylor in Eastchester. Doris was always very welcoming and sweet to all of us. Years later, my wife Roseann and I used to see Doris holding court at breakfast on Sunday mornings at Lou's on Mill Road, where she chatted with one and all. To all the Kramer family, while you all are sad after her passing, keep hold of your happy memories when you think of her.
