Obituary for Bernard Capparella Sr.

On October 21, 2022, Bernard Capparella Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the age of 74. Bernard is a long time resident of Tuckahoe and is a Tuckahoe High School graduate. Bernard started driving coach buses at the young age of 15 for Mayflower Coach, and after a few years began working with White Plains Bus Company at the age of 21. In 1983 he became the general manager of Scarsdale Bus Company, a division of White Plains Bus Co. and worked in the division until 1987. In total, he worked at the company for 53 years before retiring. Bernard was known as the “Million Mile Man” for the extensive amount of driving he did during his career. For those who knew him, buses were his passion. He enjoyed driving and repairing buses, as he was also a mechanic for the White Plains Bus Company. If you ever needed directions, Bernard was the one to call. His other passion was Amateur Radios, in which he had his own repeater tower. We all know the call sign of “WA2MLG”. Bernard received a QSL signed picture from the astronauts as a form of recognition for communicating with the Shuttle Challenger, as it was in orbit, June 1983. Bernard leaves behind his wife Claire of 54 years of marriage, son Bernard Capparella Jr, his wife Elizabeth (Liz), daughter Sandra Loccisano, her husband Frank and 4 grandchildren Nicole, Frankie, Charlie, and Stephanie, along with the rest of his extended family. Bernard was loved by all who knew him and will truly be missed and in our hearts forever.
