Obituary for Anthony Tinelli

One of New York’s Finest was sadly lost to us on October 6, 2021 when Anthony J. Tinelli from the Bronx, NY died at the age of 91. He was a devoted husband to Rose Doherty, married in 1952 for 69 years until the day he died. He was also the devoted and beloved father of four: Nancy Tinelli, Anthony Tinelli, Carol Conte , and the late Linda, who was beloved by all until the day she passed at the age of 54 in 2008. Cherished grandfather of Nicole Crimmins, Anthony IV, Erica Conte Muniz, Jared Conte and the late John Crimmins, who tragically passed away in 2015. Great grandfather of Ethan and Ashton Muniz, and Harmony Tinelli. Anthony was predeceased by his parents Anthony J. and Carmela Adinolfi Tinelli.
He attended Samuel Gompers High School and enlisted in the Marines at age 17. He served as a radio man in the famous battle at the Chosin reservoir in North Korea, where they were out numbered 10 to 1. They became known as "The Chosin Few". He was an NYPD detective 2nd grade for many years. Mid-career Anthony attended Westchester Community College to study criminal justice and to become fluid in the Spanish language, receiving an Associate degree, for which he was immensely proud. He retired from the NYPD in 1988 and finally had some time to pursue his favorite sport, golf, and was known to give a great match.
