Obituary for Anna Sophie Rizzo

Anna Sophie Rizzo (née Bjarnarson-Luce) passed away peacefully in her sleep on October thirteenth after a fifteen year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Anna was born August 4, 1938 in Algiers, Algeria to her loving parents Thorbjorg and Maurice Luce. Anna was raised in Paris and attended the Lycée Fénelon and the Sorbonne. In her varied career, Anna was in radiology, travel, education and co-owner of Star Pharmacy in Manhattan. She was also a volunteer at Lawrence Hospital and Children’s Hospital. Anna loved entertaining family and friends and was a gourmet cook, a welcoming hostess where one could always find a place at her table. She was a lifelong supporter of the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum and the Bronx Botanical Gardens.

Anna is survived by her soulmate and husband, Gerald Lee; her children David, Marc and Nicole; her grandchildren Andrew, Mia, Sienna Manon and Gunnar along with her beloved nieces, nephews, and, in-laws .She is pre-deceased by her parents ,and brother Jacques Luce and sister Janine Luce.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s name to Jansen Hospice, Bronxville, NY and Lawrence Home Care, Eastchester NY.
