Obituary for Angela DiGioia

Angela DiGioia, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2024. She was born June 20, 1932 in Bronx, New York to her parents, Oronzo (Otto) and Concetta DiGioia, joining her older sister, Anna, in the family household.

Angela (Angie) graduated from The City University of New York (CUNY) and became an elementary school teacher in the New York City Public School System, specializing in teaching reading skills. Angie was a dedicated teacher and loved teaching this important and lifelong skill to young students in the South Bronx from the 1950’s into the 1980’s.

Angela had a strong motivation to help others and her kindness and generosity were evident in all of her endeavors throughout her life. Angie was loved by all who knew her.

Angie is survived by close family members Vito Martino (Lillian) and Anna Marie Valerio (John Bergin) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In honoring her life, the following arrangements have been made:

Thursday, February 15, 4-8 PM – Westchester Funeral Home

Friday, February 16, 10:30 AM MASS – Immaculate Conception Church

Interment following Mass at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY
