Obituary for Alice H. White (Heins)

Alice White (Heins) was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1929 to John Milton Heins and Mary Dezendorf. Raised in Eastchester, Alice attended Greenvale School and graduated from Eastchester High School in 1947. She spent most of her life in Tuckahoe where she and her husband Phil raised their four children. Alice’s life was defined by service which included Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Sea Cadets. She was a member of the Waverly School PTA Board, a charter member of Little League and the Tuckahoe Beautification Committee where she served as co-chairperson for many years. She served on the Tower Club Board, and was co-chairperson of the Tuckahoe History Committee for more than two decades. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Seniors and long-term supporter of the Tuckahoe Library. She supported her husband in all his civic pursuits. She spent her last two years well-loved with family in Michigan.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Philip and her son Philip. She is survived by her three daughters, Marge (Steven) Pellegrino of Tucson, AZ, Alice (Steven) Habina, Norton Shores, MI, and Dianne (Gregory) Lunt of Norton Shores, MI, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much and was very proud.
Visitation at Westchester Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5, from1-5 p.m. with a short service at 4 followed by a sharing of memories. Burial at Holy Mount Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m.
Alice’s life was enriched by the Tuckahoe Public Library and the Tuckahoe History Committee. Donations in her honor can be made to either.
