Margie's cousin

Hello,

My name is Edward (Ed) Larsen; I was Margie Keenan's cousin. My father, James Millan Larsen, and Margie's mother, Elvera Keenan, were brother-and-sister. I grew up in the 1950's on a large commercial chicken farm in central Long Island, and Margie grew up in the house in Eastchester in which she lived most of her life. During the 50's and early 60's, my brother Robert (Bob) and I would see Margie several times a year during the big holidays – particularly Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. When Margie, Bob, and I got to college age, our time together diminished, and I'm not a little ashamed to say that our lines of communication diminished almost to the breaking point. I've now lived in Ann Arbor, MI for almost 30 years. Margie visited us once in Ann Arbor, about 20 years ago. The last time I saw her was during a business trip to New York City about 8 years ago; I flew into New York, took the train from Grand Central Station to the proper stop, and Margie was waiting for me. We spent an evening talking, trying to get caught up, and the next morning she drove me back to the train station. That was the last time that we communicated.

Starting about 2-3 years ago, Bob, his wife Sue, and I tried to re-establish communication with Margie. However, her telephone had been disconnected, and our letters and cards to her were not answered, until only very recently, when Bob was notified of Margie's passing on January 29.

I can say that the "Larsen" side of Margie's family is very, very small. My father was Margie's only uncle, and Bob and I are Margie's only cousins. (Bob has two children, and I have two; all four are now adults.) Bob and I were aware that the "Keenan" side of Margie's family was considerably more extensive, and that Margie and Elvera had maintained close contacts with them over the years. Unfortunately, neither Bob nor I had any Keenan names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses, so we had nobody to contact when it became apparent that Margie was no longer at 15 Summit Street.

As I just wrote, Bob received a very brief letter informing us of Margie's passing, and I just located this information on the web. My email address is:  <edlarsen@umich.edu>.  My phone number is 734-368-3169.  (If you call and I can't answer, please leave a message. These days, if I get a call from a phone number that my cell phone doesn't recognise, I'm tempted to assume that it's someone asking for money, so I don't respond.)  My street address is: Edward Larsen, 111 North Ashley St. # 808, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.

I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who knows about the last 10-20 years of Margie's life, and is willing to share some of it with me, and Bob, and Sue.

   My best wishes,

   Edward W. Larsen
