Obituary for William S. McKinney

William S. McKinney, 76, resident of Eastchester, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 13, 2017.

William was born on August 27, 1940 in the Bronx to William and Mary (Moane) McKinney. He attended Rice High School and Iona College earning both a bachelors degree in English Literature and masters degree in Education.

William was an English teacher in the Yonkers Public Schools for 35 years and touched many lives throughout his career. In addition, he taught at the college level as an adjunct in the EOC program through Westchester Community College.

Aside from his family, one of the loves of his life was his second home in Rockport, Massachusetts. William could be found reading a book and greeting friends from his deck, sailing with his friends from Sandy Bay Yacht Club, or gardening alongside his wife.

He enjoyed the simple joys of life---a blue sky, a day bright with the sun, a stroll down to the playground with Madeline. His family and friends will always remember William for his eloquent way with words and love of reading and sailing.

William is survived by his loving wife, Denise, his children Marissa (Timothy) Frusciante, Matthew, and grandchild, Madeline Frusciante.

He is also survived by his sisters, Sr. Joan McKinney, OP of the Bronx, Maura (Edward) Garcia, of Garden City, NY along with many nieces, nephews, and “adopted children”.

Visitation will be held at Westchester Funeral Home on Tuesday April 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday April 19, 2017, 10 am, at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary 575 Scarsdale Rd, Tuckahoe, NY.
